Newsletter 7/12

Was gibt es sonst Neues?

Fusion Festival Newsletter No. 7 / 2012

FUSION 2012 is only a few days away and everyone here is busy with final preparations. Before you read a few NEWS below, we want to duly apologize for the massive problems many of you had with our new ticket system.

Ticket problems

Yes, we know that the new ticket system has caused a lot of problems for many of you. We can only admit that we certainly have to improve this ticket system in a number of ways for next year. As if that wasn’t enough already, there were also significant problems problems with the ticket market we had created to trade your already purchased tickets if you realize you can’t come. Here are some explanations:

Unfortunately the ticket market only worked for a few people. On numerous web browsers it didn’t display correctly. We are very sorry and we are in fact embarrassed about this. We will have some serious discussions with our IT people and we will do some honest re-thinking here.

Our Office Crew has worked day and night to reply to all those emails regarding problems with the ticket market. But it was just too many emails, our staff never got on top of their inbox’s new mail count... Needless to say that the phone support was also overloaded – we will definitely hire extra people next year.

For this year we promise to solve all unsolved problems at the gates, please come to the Embassy (Botschaft) if you have ticket problems. If you bought your ticket from somebody who couldn’t come and your name is not on the ticket, please bring a written letter from that person (certificate of authority) stating that you are the new owner.

So we clearly screwed up the Ticket Market.

To give you a short insight into what’s up other than solving ticket market problems, here a few fun facts on what’s keeping our team busy these days:

Around 3.000 Registered Mail letters with tickets could not be delivered and were returned to us. Sometimes it was Deutsche Post’s fault, sometimes you got it wrong. A common mistake was to confuse firstname and surname. In some cases we could clearify this, in others Deutsche Post would simply refuse to deliver the Registered Mail.

As soon as a ticket is returned to us, we obviously try to contact you as soon as possible. Unfortunately that’s sometimes harder than expected: Emails are not delivered (especially for Hotmail users) or they end up in your spam filters!

But how to contact you if postal address, name and email address are incorrect? That’s just not working! And if you didn’t provide a phone number, then we have no chance to get in touch with you.

For next year: Please regularly check your SPAM filter! And please contact us if you don’t receive your ticket in time.

However, there are also some good news at the ticket front: Let alone all the controversy around the new personalized ticket system, it did stop the ticket trading on large commercial internet portals at horrendous prices. In our opinion that’s at least a partial success of the new ticket system. Because of all those problems with our ticket market, we didn’t stop people from trading on eBay this year. But our eBay monitoring shows that this year a lot less people traded Fusion tickets on eBay than last year.

We still think a ticket lottery is the best and most fair ticket sale system.

For everyone who couldn’t get a ticket this year, please note that there will be a Sunday ticket again. (starting Sun 06:00am, EUR 20,- plus EUR 10,- trash deposit). So if you’re not into the commercial football circus, we have put together a massive Sunday program full of musical gems for you!

Sunday program

The band program on Sunday continues until midnight! A warm recommendation for Sunday is, for example, Shantel, followed by Justin Sullivan on the Luftschloss stage. The last after hour won’t end before Monday noon – a Sunday trip to Fusion is definitely worth it!

What else? More News.

The large British Glastonbury Festival was canceled this year. That’s good for us because we could convince a number of crews and artists to come to Fusion! Together with the guys from Robodock Festival we have added a whole new area to Fusion this year: the Robofield. Here hell breaks free at night: Moving skeletons, walking scrap metal creatures and music from gigantic steel tubes... And next door will be the Bassline Circus: a bunch of wacky peeps who spend their time with artistry and drum `n base.

Apart from the whole new area, a number of things have changed. One important example is yet another addition of more toilets.

The Casbah circus will be on the Island again, this time in Rock ’n Roll style.

The Island will also host the children space again: Fusionsts coming with children please camp here!

Speaking of camping: We have made the camping area bigger. However, we still expect all camping areas to be full by Thursday night. Everyone arriving by car later than Thursday night will have to park the car on designated parking areas again. And walk to the camping area.

Commercial football at Fusion

It’s an old story: Every two years we get the same discussions about Fusion and national football teams playing in the commercial FIFA/UEFA circus.

If you have been at Fusion before, you know our take on this: There will be no public-viewing style screening of ANY football match. Also, we suggest leaving fan merchandise and national flags at home. If you want to watch football you will have to make friends with those Fusionists bringing TV sets and electricity supply to the camping area. If you have read anything about a „German Village“ showing the football matches – this is not true and complete bullshit.

Getting there

A few remarks on the logistics of getting onto the Fusion festival area:

During arrival rush hour we will open a second gate. So don’t be confused if we (or the Police) suddenly sends you another way.

For the departure rush hour on Sunday there will be yet another exit. Together with an expansion of the regular exit, we hope this will help avoiding the traffic jam of last year.

Festival time is the time of Police checks – please expect them at all times

Please read up on your rights during a police check here: http://www.fusion-festival.de/en/2012/h ... an-police/

And last but not least:

Admission to the festival area will start at 12:00 noon on Wednesday!

If you arrive earlier, please find yourself a nice camping ground in the area.

For example the one at Kanustation Mirow. Here you can also relax and camp during and after the festival.

The countdown is running and we’re pumped for FUSION. See you next week!
