I'm the former kind, and could be labeled as a ... budget glamper, maybe? In that I am laden like a regular donkey, and bring somewhat of a mini version of my personal universe, and a bit of everything for every occasion, possibility, or need. (At least to the limits of my carrying ability.) WIsh I could be more of the latter kind, but what can I say ... I like my comforts. Especially when out on a multiday no-sleep bender.

We're all different in how we prepare (or hope/wish to prepare). Some start 3 months ahead with reminders and lists crawling out of their ears; some always manage ending up doing the last minute grab bag. Some bring a small village; some magically make it with foldable hammock and an extra tee. I'd be curious to know a bit about how you all prepare, and when you start (everything from organizing the trip, to packing).

It's not about making the world a better place; it's about making ourselves better persons. The rest comes naturally.

I sorted some of my fusion stuff last week, things i don‘t use in my everyday life, but which are essential in my fusion packlist
Unfortunately I start taking care of my equipment way too early - it distracts me from my studies
but its just too much fun looking ahaid to fusion

Ooh, in that department way earlier than me. I didn't think anyone would be. Agreed though; the longer one can stay in those reveries and mental space ...<3Janu hat geschrieben: Mo 27. Every year I see a load of people scrambling for car or bus spots in the very last few days though -- I wouldn't have the stomach for it. So that's well taken care of here already.
Wish you good study peace then, so you can enjoy with a good conscience later.

Re: Countdown thread related: When do you start prepping?

But yeah i think i'll figure it out somehow

Here's my choice: https://www.clasohlson.com/se/Hopfallba ... /p/34-8880 (and a 35 l backpack BURSTING, and breaking my back).
You surely must've seen these en masse at Fusion too, no?: https://www.clasohlson.com/se/Hopfallba ... /p/31-3085
Have fun being creative. Everything is possible, there's just different levels of difficulty.

I already started, at least in the theoretical sense. Started a packing/to do list I add things to when I think of them, keep an eye out for sales on some staples/replacements I need to buy, this kind of thing.
Traintickets, Bassliner and Hotel etc. are long booked (always as soon as possible), right now I am trying to find out how to get to Lärz when there is no shuttle cause I need to work before the festival starts.

Never been with a car before, but I need at least some level of comfort so packing is always a big tetris game which needs some kind of planning beforehand. By now I am quite adept but it was a learning curve for sure

Re: Countdown thread related: When do you start prepping?
Impressive! I have Excel pack lists for the places I go to regularly, so just whip the corresponding one out for when it's time. The Fusion one is pretty prefected, by now. Some things on it still need prepping though, ofc.Kudrun hat geschrieben: Di 28. Mai 2024, 00:00 I already started, at least in the theoretical sense. Mmmh so you're one of the "hotel people"? I've met a couple lately, to my great surprise. Until then I always thought everyone was camping (or camper-ing). That's cheating.
Maybe just hire a safe driver? I'd be happy to share the contacts to mine (tried and true for several years) if you want it. Would offer to share the ride, but it's only around 8AM or so on Wed, I'm afraid.
Haha, tell me about it ... 1st time I'd never camped (ever), bought a pop-up tent for like €40 that turned out to leak through the ZIPPER when it rained ... had to go to Konsum asking for duct tape (they only had something not quite as good) to tape Mom's cheap rain poncho over the entrance, and luckily I'd brought toilet paper of my own so I could wipe the inside dry real quick.

Re: Countdown thread related: When do you start prepping?
Yey, I got an excel list as well

Oh no, I am not one of those hotel people
I am more of the "you can sleep next to Turmbühne, you just have to be tired enough" kind. Which may be the reason why I have a tendency to get really cranky on the journey back (which takes quite some time in my case). So I just get a quick bassliner to Berlin (or Hamburg), get a hotel room with a nice bed and shower for a good night of sleep and continue the next day. Much better for my mindset and body (and everyone around me).
Yeah, got some of those as well and will contact them to have a back up plan, but maybe I will come back to your offer, thx. It's the week before the festival starts so I imagine it could be a little bit tricky. But in the end it will work out some way or another.
I really hope there will be a minimum amount of rain, still got some trauma of the year I thought taking one pair of old ratty trainers (and accidentally leaving the flip-flops behind at home) would be a good idea (and I knew the weather wouldn't be good?? Pure dumbness). Had wet feet for the whole festival

My cheap Aldi tent I had for quite some time always kept the water out (to my surprise) but I can imagine the emergency operation you had to do

So you went from foldable hammock and an extra tee to bring a small village?

Re: Countdown thread related: When do you start prepping?
I always start prepping with watching the KuKo documentary around two months prior <3
After that I check my camping and general festival gear to stock up on broken or missing stuff and about a week before the festival I do a big dm and grocery purchase. Additionally I love this forum and my friends/camp WhatsApp group, where everybody is hyped
