I am desperately clinging to my SonyEricsson C905 until the last day -- which is GREAT, yet not that smartphone shite -- and it would be a pity to get an unwelcome surprise on arrival ...

Hi,
I just read that 3G was shut down in 2021. So I doesn't seem like it. 2G still seems to be in operation. Good luck!

:o Well, it's what I have so ... can someone in the region confirm/deny?

EDIT: Found this map, but according to that there is no coverage at all at Fusion ...

The 3 carriers Telekom (T-Mobile), Vodafone and O2 have several towers there.
All of them provide 2G coverage as well, while the network capacity is different.
Since you come from abroad, you are in a roaming situation. Depending on what your home carrier supports, selecting Telekom (T-Mobile) or Vodafone would bring better results than O2.
However, espencially on Wednesday when most people arrive the networks may be overloaded so that you might not get a free channel to communicate all the time. Short messages (SMS) may be delayed as well.

Thanks SO much for the reassuring reply! I recall most often being automatically redirected to O2 in earlier years, which didn't work too well, always. (Ofc I had the same issues as everyone else.) The last couple years though, IIRC, it's shown Telekom, and that was pretty hassle-free throughout. :) PHEW.<3
